Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Surgery is only half the journey. The quality of your rehabilitation has a major influence on the final result: how well the joint moves, how strong it becomes and how confident you feel using it.

Your plan is coordinated with your surgeon’s guidance, with clear milestones at each stage.

What it can help with

  • ACL and knee ligament reconstruction
  • Knee and hip replacement
  • Meniscus surgery
  • Shoulder surgery including rotator cuff repair
  • Spinal surgery recovery
  • Fracture fixation and post-cast stiffness

What to expect

  1. 1

    Protocol review

We review your operation notes and surgeon’s restrictions before starting.

  2. 2

    Early phase

Swelling control, gentle range of motion and safe walking or arm use.

  3. 3

    Strengthening

Progressive strength and balance work as healing allows.

  4. 4

    Return to function

Work-, sport- or lifestyle-specific training until you reach your goals.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: common questions

How soon after surgery should physiotherapy start?

Often within days, depending on the procedure and your surgeon’s instructions. Early, guided movement typically reduces stiffness and speeds recovery.

Should I bring anything from the hospital?

Yes. Please bring your discharge summary, operation notes and any rehabilitation protocol or restrictions your surgeon provided.
